OH MY GOD EVERYTHING SUDDENLY MAKES SENSE
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO PERFECT
i wasn’t going to reblog but then
Thanks for all the awesome anime, KyoAni!
I miss Moon Moon can we bring him back?
OMFG MOON MOON
I have a feeling 2014 is going to the year of recaps, instead of actually having any new memes and viral videos.
I will always reblog Moon Moon
Always reblog da Moooooon
Remember that High School musical song where Troy sang about his conflicted emotions?
hey remember that High School Musical song where Gabriella sang about rejection?
hey remember that High School Musical song where Sharpay and Ryan sang an overly glamourous song about what they want?
I realized this some time ago. All the high school musical plots are basically the same in different settings/ time periods.
In 2014, 3D animation introduced a new feature that I think is an under appreciated evolution in animated movie making.
I am serious. Rapunzel from Tangled (2011) and Merida from Brave (2012) have very even skin tones and just a couple of freckles. Anna and Elsa from Frozen (2013) have the little reddish, uneven marks that people actually have. It’s subtle (I did a lot of photoshopping to bring it out), but it makes such a difference! That, and the more natural way of producing freckles makes all these HD closeups so very special!
There are unedited (all I did was crop and resize to tumblr post size) caps from Dreamworks’ Rise of the Guardians (2012) and How to Train Your Dragon (2010):
I mean LOOK AT THOSE FREAKING REALISTIC DETAILS
DREAMWORKS’ BLOTCHINESS GAME ON POINT
Yeah, as impressive as Elsa and Anna are, they look smooth in comparison to even older characters. This isn’t anything new, and certainly wasnt introduced this year. Maybe it was introduced by DISNEY this year.
Disney has never been about skin detail, their characters are usually on a smooth cartoony side that mimics a 2D style. Thats not really a bad thing, but they certainly arent pioneering skin detail.
Reblogging because this is something we recently talked about in school. Neither Disney nor Pixar use texture very well, they usually keep a clean barbie/bratz doll sort of look, whereas Dreamworks use texture to stylize their movies. Even if the texture is realistic, it’s amazingly enough kept stylized in each of their CG movies and put flaws on the characters skin (and not just freckles like Disney/pixar has put on every single girl up there :I).
Of course this is their own choice if wether or not they want to keep their characters looking “smooth” and “clean” instead of more “realistic”, but to say that Disney gives their character blotchy skin is just— no.
It’s not even just Dreamworks, Epic from Blue Sky does texture 10 times better than Disney do now and ever has done
better start preparing for the season finale now.
it doesn’t even matter what show this is for
